Created for Alisson Ellwood’s Showtime documentary “The Go Go’s,” this main title sequence relies heavily on circa-1980’s VHS emulation. The titles began as hand-cut magazine letters combined with traditional typography and then distressed with many different VHS distortions to add an authentic video-tape flavor. We kept the colors blunt, primary, and “Pop” to steer the look away from taking itself too seriously with its heavy-handed “punk” visual reference.
